There are many different types of silicone, each with particular features that make them specific for some applications. In the automotive industry, they can be used as joints or seals in vehicle engines. Equipment often used in industrial applications also needs silicone products with high hardness for very similar purposes.

This rubber is elastic and long-lasting, which is why it can keep inside of an engine two pieces fit together and without damage; it will allow them to oscillate, but not to come in contact. High-density silicone rubber is the perfect elastomer for this task because it is long-lasting and can stand high temperatures emitted by machines in function.

The stiffness of this silicone makes it incredibly firm and less flexible than other similar materials. It is frequent to find pieces with Shore hardness of 60A in high compression applications. This additional firmness, density and weight entail better durability and, consequently, longevity.

Modern machines and equipment emit a lot of heat. In those demanding temperature conditions, typical elastomers generally cannot function. Hard silicone rubber, however, can offer successful and firm dampening among all the important sections of a vehicle.
